The audio-visual exhibition Overlooked Horizons presents recent works by the Doroszenko duo that investigate the evolving relationship between the observer and the natural landscape. The large-format photographic prints, sound installations, and video pieces showcased in the exhibition draw on the artists’ experiences from numerous real and virtual journeys. Just as travelers in the late eighteenth century sought “genius loci” — places whose unique atmosphere transported them beyond the everyday – Ewa Doroszenko and Jacek Doroszenko explore contemporary landscapes both online and offline, tracing sites that provoke reflection, distance, and renewed perception.

In Ewa Doroszenko’s series of large-scale graphic works Overlooked Horizons, the term “horizon” refers not only to the visible boundary between sky and earth, but also to the limits of our perceptual capacities in an age oversaturated with visual stimuli. The series addresses disturbances in how we perceive the landscape and considers the shifting boundaries between the realms of nature and technology. The large-format photographic prints were constructed from visual fragments collected by the artist during international Artist-in-Residence programs — including Kunstnarhuset Messen Ålvik (Norway), Klaipeda Culture Communication Center (Lithuania), The Island Resignified Lefkada (Greece), and Pragovka Gallery (Czech Republic). These overlooked, initially unnoticed, or seemingly insignificant views prompted the artist to reflect on her own expectations and assumptions about encounters with the natural environment.

The exhibition also includes works produced by the artists during other international residencies, such as AAVC Hangar Barcelona (Spain), , and Pragovka Gallery (Czech Republic). Together, these pieces form a multifaceted reflection on how contemporary technologies, modes of travel, and informational overload reshape the way we look at, listen to, and experience the world around us.
